This Sunday at Carolines
So I just went to see Brian Posehn last night at Carolines. It was the first time I had seen him and I really enjoyed it. I just found out today that this Sunday 4/22 Zach Galifianakis will be joining him on the show. That should be an amazing show. I just saw "live at the purple onion" and I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately I will be in DC for the weekend and won't be able to see the show, but if anyone is in the area and wants to catch a great performance, go check out this show. My buddy Matt started working at Carolines about a month ago and tells me that the tickets are still plenty right now but won't be come Sunday, especially after word that Galifianakis is on the show spreads further. Hopefully you can check it out. On a different note... I recently found out that someone that used to "represent" me (and I use that word very loosely) tried to put a stop to last weeks 3rd annual DCCF at the last minute. I won't say any names but I would warn any DC comics to be very inquisitive when it comes to this certain person and any shows they try to book you for. A show this person recently booked for local comics to showcase in front of "industry" had only no shows. The DCCF had 80-100 representatives from different entertainment outlets. Why would someone who claims to care so much about helping local comics try to put a stop to something that could be so helpful? They clearly could care less about giving you opportunities to advance your career. I think it is important to rememeber that while we are all standup comics and therefore very independent performers, we can have some sense of unity to create a better comedy community for ourselves. We are the talent and without the talent there is no show. We have to keep that in mind at all times. The DCCF is now on the right track to becoming a very big festival in DC. There were lots of performers and industry that were very pleased with how everything went. I think a festival that can attract numerous agents/bookers/college agents/television networks can be huge for all performers, especially in the DC area. So if you didn't participate this year, keep in mind this festival is only going to get better and better and it is so important to support as it could be you showcasing for those people next year.

I'm so glad you guys had a great time at the Festival this year, and I was sad to not be away while it was going on. I can't wait to see what next year brings, and see what new ways Blaire finds to help support young, local, deserving talent.
You make a very good point about SOMEONE trying to get the 'fest shut down. If you allegedly support local talent (which so far has been nothing but broken promises, half-assed contests, and a multitude of "nowhere fast" ventures), then why would you try and put a stop to what is arguably the biggest comedy event in the Washington/Maryland/Virginia scene? People will network here, comedians will meet agents and bookers who will help them further their dream, and young upstarts will get to see comedy from different regions that will hopefully inspire them, and make them grow..
AND YOU WANT TO SHUT THAT DOWN OUT OF SPITE!?!
What could this person's train of thought actually be? "If I shut down one of the biggest opportunities for all local comics...they'll all LOVE me!" Is that the idea you had floating around in your head? You're the defintion of counter-productive. You're like Pepsi trying to get the government to ban "cola" so Coke can't do any business.
Anyone that would attempt to take chances and opportunities away from MY friends, and MY comedic brethren has NO place in this scene, and would best served by simply going away. "COMEDY" is hard as is, and none of us need this "NONSENSE".
